Chirag Goyal is an entrepreneur, volunteer and facilitator from Nepal. He is Executive Director of the Goyal Group, Vice President of the Goyal Foundation and the founder of Ekjut Nepal, a network that connects people who need help with people ready to give it.

Roots in business

Originally from Budhabare in Jhapa, Chirag is part of the Goyal Group, which has interests across manufacturing, trade, banking and finance, insurance, real estate, renewable energy, agriculture, hospitality and construction. In September 2026 he was elected to the Board of Directors of Excel Development Bank.

A decade of showing up

His community work has run through several organisations, each a separate chapter of his journey:

  • 2015, Helping Hands Nepal: after the earthquake, moving from relief to rebuilding homes, and helping villagers in Dolakha learn to rebuild their own houses and teach their neighbours.
  • 2016 onward, Robin Hood Army Nepal: connecting surplus food and resources with people in need through a zero-funds volunteer model.
  • 2020–2021, COVID-19 response: starting relief on the second day of lockdown and turning it into a request-and-relief effort for food, medical support and essentials.
  • 2021, Project Aasha: a Robin Hood Army Nepal initiative to understand communities more systematically before deciding what help they needed.
  • 2024 floods: supporting raft rescue operations in Kathmandu, including the Balkhu area.

Youth and public leadership

Chirag was active with the Nepalese Young Entrepreneurs' Forum from 2019 to 2024 and served as President of its Kathmandu Chapter from 2022 to 2023. In July 2023 he represented Nepal at the G20 Young Entrepreneurs' Alliance. Since September 2024 he has been a co-founder of the Nepal Center for Political Leadership, which prepares people for leadership and public service with a grounding in ethics and good governance.

Recognition

In 2021, the then President of Nepal, Bidhya Devi Bhandari, presented him with the Jana Sewa Shree for his contribution during the 2015 earthquake and the COVID-19 pandemic. He describes it as an award that belonged to everyone: the volunteers, donors, drivers and friends who made the work possible.

The next chapter: Ekjut Nepal

After more than ten years, Chirag noticed a pattern. The same people kept showing up for every crisis, but their goodwill was organised from scratch each time. In 2026 he founded Ekjut Nepal to give that community structure: a voluntary registry and network that can be activated the moment a genuine need arises.

Ekjut runs four projects of its own:

His guiding belief is simple: a stronger Nepal is possible when people work together.
