Ekjut is the next expression of a simple belief: people want to help. The opportunity is to bring them together — so that people, resources, knowledge and willingness to contribute can find one another when they are needed.
More than a decade of showing up has created something valuable: relationships between people who have worked together, contributed together and kept showing up.
A Heartfelt Letter of Gratitude
Over the years, whenever someone has reached out asking for help, I have simply shared the need with the communities around me. And every time, something remarkable has happened — help has never stopped coming.
People have given their time, skills, resources, knowledge and connections. There have even been moments when we have had to stop accepting help because it was available in such abundance.
It also made me realise that the work I have been part of was never mine alone. Every initiative has been a collective effort. Someone gave their time, someone brought a skill, someone opened a door, someone arranged resources, and someone simply showed up when they were needed. The recognition may have carried one name, but the work always belonged to many.
But there was something missing. All of this happened through messages, phone calls, communities and personal connections. There was no structured way of connecting someone who needed support with someone who was willing to help.
So I began to wonder — what happens if we structure this entire thing?
What if we build the connections before a crisis happens? What if we already know the people who are willing to help, the skills they bring and the resources they can offer? Then, when someone needs support, we can connect the right people and activate help immediately.
That is why Ekjut was created.
Ekjut is not about one person helping others. It is about creating a connected community where everyone has something to contribute, and where help can move faster when it is needed most.

From individual effort to a connected community.
Over more than a decade, different situations brought together volunteers, businesses, professionals, friends and communities. The work was different each time — disaster response, food and essential support, medical assistance, education, youth engagement and community action.
What stayed the same was the people. The same kinds of people kept showing up, often without being asked twice.
Ekjut is being built to recognise that contribution and make the network easier to find, trust and activate when a real need arises.
It is not about replacing the organisations and initiatives that already exist. It is about creating a point of connection between people who are willing to contribute.
WHAT EKJUT IS TRYING TO BUILD
A voluntary People Registry.
The first step is simple: create a voluntary registry of people who have been part of the journey or who want to contribute in the future.
The value is not the list itself. The value is knowing who is there, what they can contribute, what they have done before, and how they can be reached when something needs to move.
Share basic details and the ways they may be able to contribute.
People can describe earlier work or associations so their contribution is not lost over time.
When a genuine need arises, the relevant people and capabilities can be connected.
